Frequently Asked Questions

  • What types of services do you provide?

Individual, couples, family counseling, and walk and talk therapy is offered. I work with children, teens, and adults. I also specialize in Solution Focussed Brief Couples Therapy and Art and Narrative Therapy Approaches.
  • How long are the sessions?

Sessions run approximately 45 to 50 minutes and the last 5-10 minutes we wrap up, etc.
  • How long will I have to be in therapy?

The time it takes in therapy varies from one person to the next. Some can find resolution in as few as one session, others spend years. On average, we see patients from 10-15 sessions.

You need to check with your insurance plan. Some cover counseling, others do not. Fees are $100/session. I accept cash, cheque, e-transfers or major credit cards. Due to COVID-19, E-therapy options through secure ZOOM video conferencing are also being offered, but you can also do face to face based on your comfort level.

  • How do I know if I should go to a counselor?

Seeking a therapist is a personal preference. If you are looking to experience a more enjoyable life, seeking to feel less irritable, or wanting someone to discuss frustrations with, counseling may be for you. An individual in counseling can be someone who needs support for depression or anxiety, or someone seeking to better understand why they do certain things. During our first session, I help you clarify what you are looking for.
  • What should I expect when I get there?

When you arrive in the waiting room, the receptionist or the counselor will meet you and provide you with intake paperwork. This can also be completed prior to your visit (click here for Helpful Forms). Once in the office, we will sit down together and briefly discuss the intake paperwork and confidentiality. We ask what brings you in to the office and we discuss from there. Before you leave, we will have recommendations and we will discuss the recommended frequency of your visits.
  • Is everything kept confidential?

Yes. We follow PIPEDA and HIPPA guidelines, as well as the ethical guidelines based on our licensure.
  • What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

The only difference between traditional therapy and Walk and Talk Therapy is that we conduct the session outdoors while walking together. The combination of therapy with exercise has a variety of benefits that include an increase in self-awareness, relaxation, and an increased ability to combat depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.
  • Where do we meet for Walk and Talk Therapy?

We meet at the office and go on from there to one of the local parks. In the winter, we will meet at an Indoor track. There is a bathroom at the office if you need to change. Be ready with your walking shoes! We will then walk and talk throughout the pathway of the park.
  • How long is the Walk and Talk Session?

Sessions are 50 minutes long, the same as our in-office sessions. The first 40-45 minutes we walk and talk and the last 5-10 minutes we wrap up, etc.
  • Can I alternate between office / walk and talk?

Yes! At any time you can return to office sessions.
  • What about inclement weather?

If the weather is not cooperating, you can decide if you would like to continue with your walk and talk session, or reschedule for a different day.
  • How much is Walk and Talk Therapy?

I charge the same fees of $100.00/session for Walk and Talk Therapy. I accept Visa, MasterCard, etranfer, cash, or cheque. Payment is due prior to start of session
  • Where can I find the Walk & Talk Waiver to fill out?
